Early
Pregnancy Testing
For women who need an early diagnosis of pregnancy, Hillcrest offers a urine
test that may be performed at a missed period. You may come in for
a pregnancy test on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday from 8:30 AM
until 1:00 PM. You do not need an appointment.
Blood pregnancy tests are also available for an even earlier diagnosis.
Results of the urine test may be obtained the same day, while blood test
results are available the following day. There is a charge for the early
urine test and the blood test.
Sonography
Hillcrest offers sonograms to more accurately determine the size of a pregnancy.
Birth Control Provisions and Counseling
If a woman is unsure as to which birth control method best fits her needs
she can seek counseling regarding the various methods of birth control and
make a decision that suits her best. She will then be given full instructions
on its use and risks.
Three-for-Free
Hillcrest Clinic is pleased to be one of the many sites in Maryland to be
participating in the "Three-for-Free" program of the Division
of Family Planning, Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
"Three-for-Free" has the objective of decreasing barriers to condom
use by making free condoms available for anonymous pick-up without requiring
any kind of registration, counseling, or discussion. A simple, easy to read
pamphlet on correct condom use is also available. Patients or friends of
patients may take the condoms without charge or questions asked.
Counseling
Pregnancy counseling is offered to women who have had a positive pregnancy
test and would like to discuss their options. A factual background will
be provided to offer a foundation from which each person may explore personal
needs and preferences and make an individual informed choice. An appointment
is required, but there is no charge for this service.
Community Relations
Resource speakers are available to give educators, students, and health
professionals up-to-date information on such topics as teen-age pregnancy,
sexually transmitted diseases, abortion, birth control methods, and sexual
values. To obtain printed materials on these health related topics, or to
schedule a speaker, contact the Director of Public Relations at 410-788-4400.
